New drone attacks in Moscow - buildings have been damaged
Three Ukrainian drones attacked the Russian capital Moscow early Sunday morning, Russia said according to international news agencies. Ukraine has not commented on the incident.
One of the drones is said to have been shot down and two others crashed into the city. According to the mayor Sergey Sobyanin, two centrally located office buildings suffered damage to the facade. Putin: African initiative can be the basis for talks
Russia is not opposed to the idea of peace negotiations, says Vladimir Putin at a press conference after the meeting with several African countries, according to several media. The Russian president believes that the African or Chinese initiatives can be the basis for talks.
However, Putin believes that all talks must be based on "the new realities", and thus take into account the Ukrainian territories illegally annexed by Russia.
Sky News notes that Ukraine will not accept such terms. The country refuses to start talks unless Russia leaves Ukrainian territory. Ukraine has demanded that the 1991 borders be fully respected.
Furthermore, Reuters notes that Volodymyr Zelenskyy dismisses the idea of talks when the Russians control a fifth of his country's territory. Talks could also give the Russians time to regroup on the battlefield, according to the president.
