Thailand wants to buy Gripen – the conflict could be an obstacle

Thailand wants to buy more Gripen planes from Sweden. But if the situation between Thailand and Cambodia escalates, the deal could be paused or canceled, writes TT.

Today, Swedish Minister of Defense Pål Jonsson will receive the head of Thailand's air force. Thailand is in the middle of negotiations with SAAB.

– If there is a full-scale or major war – or if Thailand invades Cambodia and takes over areas – then I am convinced that this deal would be paused, and perhaps even canceled, says Martin Lundmark, a lecturer at the Swedish National Defense University, to the news agency.

The negotiations could last for several years and be affected by the development of events.

US stop a billion-dollar bill for Danish wind power giant

A bill of at least 1 billion Danish kroner threatens Danish wind power giant Ørsted after the US stopped its subsidiary’s project on the outer continental shelf, writes Børsen. In the worst case, write-downs will have to be made and billions paid for contracts that will not create any value.

Nordnet Denmark's investment economist Per Hansen calls the situation "new uncertainty at a very unfortunate and expensive time". He aims for the announcement to come ten days before the extraordinary general meeting, which is to decide on a capital injection of 60 billion kronor.

According to the research house Citi, the announcement could have far-reaching consequences for the Danish company's involvement in the US, writes Direkt.

A few minutes after the Copenhagen Stock Exchange opens, Ørsted plummets 16 percent.
