Emine Erdogan appeals to Melania Trump about Gaza
Turkey's first lady Emine Erdogan has urged her American counterpart Melania Trump in a letter to show the same sympathy for the children in Gaza that she has done for the children in Ukraine, Sky News reports.
UNICEF stated at the beginning of the year that at least 669 children have been killed in Ukraine, with a likely large undercount. In his letter, Erdogan highlights Trump's compassion for these children, and urges her to show the same concern for the over 18,000 children who have been killed in Gaza.
Melania Trump wrote a highly publicized letter to Vladimir Putin earlier this month in which she urged him to protect Ukraine's children. Emine Erdogan wants Trump to send a similar letter to Israel's Benjamin Netanyahu.
“We must unite our voices against this broken global system,” writes Emine Erdogan.
