Netanyahu Calls Attack a “Tragic Mistake”
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu calls today’s attack on Nasser Hospital in Gaza a “tragic mistake” that the country “deeply regrets.”
The attack killed 20 people and injured around 50. In addition to civilians and hospital employees, several journalists who were in the building to report on an earlier Israeli attack were among the victims.
Nearly 200 journalists and more than 1,500 healthcare workers are estimated to have been killed in Gaza since October 2023.
“Israel values the work that journalists, healthcare workers and civilians do,” Netanyahu continues in his post on X.
IDF leaders criticize the invasion of Gaza City
Several Israeli military leaders, including IDF Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir, are appealing to Benjamin Netanyahu and the country’s government to reach an agreement with Hamas on a ceasefire, Haaretz reports.
Carrying out the announced invasion of Gaza City could lead to the death of the hostages, say several army leaders, who instead advocate a negotiated solution – now that they have the upper hand.
– Netanyahu, it is time to act according to the will of the people. Do not continue this endless war. Do not sacrifice the hostages, our soldiers and Israeli civilians, says Eyal Zamin during a meeting with the security cabinet.
