"The beast will pay a high price," writes Donald Trump on Truth Social.
A large police operation is underway outside the White House in Washington after two soldiers from the National Guard were shot.
Both have died from their injuries, says Governor Patrick Morrisey.
"Our entire state mourns with their families, their loved ones and the National Guard," he writes on X.
Sources describe the shooting as an "ambush," according to CBS News.
The suspected shooter has been arrested and is also believed to have been shot, according to Donald Trump.
“The beast that shot the two National Guardsmen, both critically injured and now in two separate hospitals, is also seriously injured, but will pay a very high price regardless,” he writes on Truth Social and continues:
“God bless our National Guard and all our military and law enforcement personnel. They are truly amazing people. I, as the President of the United States, and everyone associated with the office of the President, stand with you!”.
