Politico: Xi Jinping Buys Kremlin Narrative on War
Russia's Vladimir Putin claims that China's peace proposal on the war in Ukraine could become a "basis for a settlement" - when the West and Kyiv are ready. He says that after today's conversation with China's Xi Jinping, according to Reuters.
The war in Ukraine was on the agenda for the day. In a joint statement with Putin, Xi called for peace talks and a "responsible" dialogue. Politico writes that China supports the Kremlin's narrative about the war without demanding that Russian troops be withdrawn.
The two presidents are said to have agreed, among other things, to deliver Russian gas to China via a gas pipeline from Siberia.

Hassler: The Riksbank should wait for more increases
Nobel committee member, economics professor John Hassler, believes that the Riksbank should wait with further increases in the key interest rate. In an interview with Dagens Nyheter, he states that the desired effect will come in the near future anyway, based on the increases that have already been made.
He believes that Sweden has been dragged into recession as a result of problems with global supply chains, the war in Ukraine and energy price increases.
- This is temporary without us needing to make major changes in Sweden, he says.
John Hassler was, among other things, an advisor to the government during the financial crisis in 2008. He believes that Sweden is well equipped for the recession that is now ahead.
