The allegations against Trump
Police brace for large protests if Trump is arrested
Police in New York and Washington are preparing for possible demonstrations if former President Donald Trump is charged with crimes and arrested. CNN reports.
According to information, all officers with the NYPD are wearing uniform during Tuesday and are said to be ready to be deployed if necessary.
Over the weekend, Trump claimed that police will arrest him on Tuesday and called for protests if that happens. The investigation concerns a payment of just over one million kroner to porn star Stormy Daniels after she claimed that she had an affair with Trump.

Trump in a new appearance last night: "They're after you"
Donald Trump believes that the ongoing legal proceedings against him "are a continuation of the most disgusting witch hunt in our country's history". This is what the ex-president says in a speech published on his media platform Truth Social last night.
- They are not after me, they are after you. I'm just standing in their way and I always will.
Over the weekend, Trump claimed that he will be arrested on Tuesday in the investigation into porn star Stormy Daniels.
A few weeks before the 2016 election, Trump associate Michael Cohen paid Stormy Daniels $130,000 in exchange for her silence about an alleged 2006 affair. Cohen has testified under oath that Trump directed him to make the payment — and Trump's company later allegedly picked up the bill . The ex-president denies the scheme.

Analysis: Political disaster for Trump if he is indicted
Stop overthinking it - an indictment against Donald Trump would be a political disaster for him. That's what Alexander Burns writes in an analysis in Politico after many asked whether Trump could turn an indictment around the Stormy Daniels mess to his advantage.
Burns writes that Trump needs to grow his support.
"Even if every scandal or mistake brings 99 percent of his base closer to him and makes one percent disappear, it's still a losing recipe."
An indictment would have enormous consequences for the United States, writes CNN's Stephen Collinson and lists possible effects. He notes, among other things, that the situation is extra sensitive because Trump has announced his candidacy in the 2024 election.
In a furious article in the National Review, with the headline "Just shut up, Donny", Jeffrey Blehar saw the former president's rhetoric. After reading the post on the media platform Truth Social, he believes that Trump wants to create another riot like the Capitol. The post was in all caps and called for protests if he is arrested.
"Imagine a glowing exposition from a mental patient in a padded cell who hasn't had his medicine, and you're almost there."
