Putin: China's 12-point plan can bring an end to war - but the West is not ready for peace
The plan that China presented last month could serve as a basis for peace in Ukraine, according to Russian President Vladimir Putin, according to the BBC. At the same time, he says that the West and Ukraine do not yet seem ready for peace.
The statement comes after Chinese President Xi Jinping was on a three-day visit to Moscow.
China's plan, which consists of twelve points, calls for, among other things, peace talks and that national sovereignty be respected, but it does not contain any concrete proposals.
Ukraine has previously announced that a condition for sitting down at the negotiating table with Moscow is that the Russian troops withdraw from Ukrainian territory.
The United States on Tuesday dismissed Chinese ambitions to act as a mediator between Russia and Ukraine, writes AFP. The country cannot "in any way" be considered neutral, stated a spokesperson for the White House.
