The demonstrations against the French pension reform continue and according to the French trade unions, the turnout on Thursday is the largest they have seen so far. Meanwhile, the live reports of the French newspapers are filled with images of tear gas, fires and destruction. France 24 reports that the entrance to the police station in Lorient has been set on fire.  

Sveriges Radio's correspondent in Paris, Marie Nilsson Boij, testifies that the group of demonstrators known as the black bloc has taken over and created chaos. 

- There were riot police, tear gas, burning garbage cans, incendiary bombs and reporters with helmets I met at the demonstration. So it has degenerated, she says.  

Le Monde writes that around 800,000 people in Paris show their dissatisfaction with the pension reform, but demonstrations are reported from all over the country.

Workers block Paris airport in pension protest  

French workers blocked a terminal at Charles de Gaulle airport in Paris on Thursday, The Guardian reports. The action was part of the nationwide protests against President Emmanuel Macron's pension reform.  

The protest at the airport must have arisen spontaneously. According to a spokesperson for the airport, air traffic is not affected.  

Even trains, schools and garbage collection are affected by strikes and protests.
