The Swedish and Danish air forces carried out a synchronized operation against a Russian aircraft over the Baltic Sea on Thursday, the defense forces write in a press release.
Two Swedish Jas 39 Gripen and two Danish F-16 Fighting Falcon followed a Russian military aircraft of the type IL-20 Coot-A in the airspace over the Baltic Sea.
The combat aircraft encountered the Russian military aircraft, which was heading west, in the area between Sweden, Danish Zealand and Bornholm.
- This synchronized effort is proof of our close and good cooperation with the Danish air force. Together, we take responsibility for securing the airspace over the Baltic Sea through our respective incident preparedness units, says Deputy Air Force Chief Tommy Petersson in the press release.
