Expert: Ukraine will have a difficult path into NATO
All NATO member states want Ukraine to eventually join the defense alliance. This was announced by Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg on Friday. But war scientist Magnus Christiansson tells DN that Kyiv will have a difficult path into the defense alliance.
A country that is at war cannot join NATO and, according to Christiansson, it can be difficult to define when the war in Ukraine will actually end. He is also skeptical that Turkey and Hungary have actually agreed to let Ukraine in.
He says that Turkey carefully guards its interests against both the West and Russia in order to spread its risks.

Russian billionaires' fortunes soar despite sanctions
Despite tough restrictions against Russia and the fact that many of the country's richest people are on sanctions lists, the wealth of the Russian elite soared in the past year, reports Russian Forbes according to Reuters.
Russia has 110 dollar billionaires, 22 more than a year ago, and their combined wealth is estimated at $505 billion, 152 billion more than a year ago.
The financial newspaper partly explains the development by saying that the outlook for the Russian economy a year ago was "apocalyptic" but that the economic blow was not as severe as predicted. Another explanation is that the prices of oil and gas have risen precisely because of the sanctions against Russia.
