Klarna Turns: Launches Own Cryptocurrency
Payment company Klarna is launching its own cryptocurrency: Klarna USD. This is stated in a press release.
The aim is to "significantly reduce costs for both consumers and merchants", writes the payment giant.
- With Klarna's reach and Tempo's infrastructure, we can challenge the old networks and make payments faster and cheaper for everyone, says Sebastian Siemiatkowski.
The currency is based on Tempo, a blockchain developed specifically for payments. Klarna USD is a so-called stablecoin, with a fixed exchange rate against the US dollar.
After the announcement, Klarna's shares rose just over 2 percent in pre-trade on Wall Street.

Saab receives billion-dollar order from FMV
Saab receives an order of 2.1 billion from FMV for command and sensor systems for air defense, according to a press release.
Deliveries will take place in 2027–2028.
– We are extremely proud to contribute to a strengthened air defense capability for the Swedish army brigades, says Carl-Johan Bergholm, head of Saab's Surveillance business area.
The order also includes an integration study to supplement the brigade air defense with Giraffe AMB as a radar for medium-range reconnaissance.
Saab's share was up 2 percent before the order, around 11.05 the share is up just over 3 percent.
