US: No side has accepted ceasefire agreement
The US envoy to Sudan, Massad Boulos, states that none of the warring parties in the civil war has accepted the ceasefire agreement presented by the US, several media outlets report.
He says that although the government forces made counter-demands, he wants both sides to accept the proposed agreement in its original form.
“We would like both sides to accept the comprehensive text we have presented,” he says.
The format of the agreement is unclear.
Doctors Without Borders leaves Darfur after fatal shooting
The aid organization Doctors Without Borders is evacuating all its staff from Darfur after a stretcher bearer was shot dead, Reuters reports. Four more people were injured in the shooting outside Zalingei Hospital on November 18. The hospital is located in an area of central Darfur controlled by the RSF militia.
“We cannot resume our humanitarian work until RSF guarantees the safety of staff and patients,” writes the organization’s coordinator Myriam Laaroussi in a statement.
The clinic included emergency rooms, surgery and a maternity ward. It also treats patients with cholera and measles, which are currently spreading in the region, according to Doctors Without Borders.
The war in Sudan — the issue
• At the end of October 2025, the paramilitary group RSF took control of al-Fashir, the Sudanese army’s last stronghold in Darfur, after an 18-month siege.
• The UN, the ICC and several researchers have reported mass killings, sexual violence and ethnic cleansing against civilians, where thousands are believed to have been killed and mass graves have been documented using satellite images.
• Refugees and aid organizations testify that tens of thousands of people have been forced to flee, many children are severely traumatized and hundreds of thousands of civilians are trapped in the city without access to food or healthcare.
• RSF has been accused of war crimes and genocide, and several leading commanders have been arrested by their own militia following international criticism and the dissemination of films showing abuses.
• The United Arab Emirates has been identified as the largest financier and source of weapons for RSF, which has led to demands for an arms embargo and a halt to Swedish and European arms exports to the country.
