State of Emergency Declared in California: “Life-Threatening Storm”
An atmospheric and “life-threatening” storm has moved into California in the United States, prompting the state to declare a state of emergency in six municipalities, reports Sky News.
Several flash floods occurred on Wednesday as a result of the heavy downpour.
The rescue services have been working all night, writes the LA Times, after up to 30 centimeters of rain fell in some places. Several highways are flooded on Thursday and in the city of San Diego a man has died after being hit by a tree.
Woman rescued – after being swept away 14 kilometers
Several flash floods have occurred in California in the United States as a result of the “life-threatening” storm that has moved into the state. A woman fell into San Jose Creek and was swept away by the strong current during the severe storm, reports the LA Times.
A major rescue operation was launched and after the woman was swept away for 14 kilometers, she was rescued with the help of a rescue helicopter.
She was taken to hospital with an unclear condition.
– She went downstream for quite a while, says a spokesperson for the Los Angeles Fire Department.
