Israel claims to have killed Iranian terrorist leader in Lebanon

Israel claims to have killed an Iranian leader in the so-called Quds Force in southern Lebanon, reports AFP.

According to Israel, Hossein Mahmood Marshad al-Jawhari was a leading figure in the Quds Force who planned and carried out terrorist attacks against Israel from Syria and Lebanon, writes Haaretz. He was reportedly killed in the Ansariya area of ​​southern Lebanon.

Despite an official ceasefire, Israel has carried out several attacks with both drones and ground forces in southern Lebanon on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, according to L’Orient Today. At least two people have been killed and several seriously injured.

Two journalists for the al-Mayadeen TV channel were shot at while working in the Sour area. Israel accused them of collecting information for the Hezbollah terrorist group.

IS leader arrested in Syria – operation led by the US

IS leader Taha al-Zoubi, also known as Abu Omar Tabiya, has been arrested in Syria. This is reported by AFP.

al-Zoubi was arrested in Damascus with several of his soldiers. The arrest was carried out in a large-scale international operation led by the US and is the first of its kind since the Assad regime was overthrown last year.

In mid-December, two American soldiers and a civilian were killed in an armed attack in the city of Palmyra. On Saturday, five IS members died in a retaliatory attack by the US.

Syria: Senior IS leader has been killed

Senior IS leader Mohammad Shahada has been killed. This is stated by Syrian authorities, according to AFP.

Syrian security and intelligence forces worked in coordination with the US-led coalition in what was described as a "precise security operation".

Just hours earlier, authorities announced that they had arrested IS leader Taha al-Zoubi on Wednesday.
