This year's December has so far been unusually warm in Norway with an average of 3.1 degrees above normal. In some places it has been the warmest December ever.

- This has been the warmest start to December ever measured in Bergen and Oslo, says meteorologist on duty Geir Otta Fagerlid to the Norwegian NTB.

In northern Norway, there are also likely to be heat records in many places on Christmas Eve itself, writes NTB.

In several places in northern Norway, the avalanche risk is at the red level due to mild temperatures and heavy rain.
