The value of the JLC gold has doubled since the find

Comedians Carl Déman and Lucas Simonsson have earned several million kronor on the gold rally in recent years. On Monday – the same day that the Police Authority announced that the comedians will receive the disputed gold – the gold price hit another record.

The fact that the humor group had the gold confiscated by the police, instead of possibly selling it themselves when they found it, has therefore been a gold deal. Omni Ekonomi's calculations show that the value of the gold has doubled from 6.5 million kronor in October 2023 to 13.1 million today.

When the craftsmen found the gold on October 4, 2023, the price was 1822 dollars per ounce. A so-called troy ounce in the context of gold corresponds to 31.1035 grams. The gold find of 10 kilograms therefore corresponds to 321.5 ounces of gold, which means a dollar find of 585786 dollars. With the dollar exchange rate on October 4, which was 11.07 kronor, the find was worth just under 6.5 million kronor.

With today's gold price record of 4410 dollars per ounce, the find is instead worth 1417815 dollars, calculated at today's exchange rate, it adds up to 13.1 million kronor.
