Poland sends fighter jets after Russian attack

Poland has sent fighter jets in response to a Russian airstrike near the Polish border in Ukraine.

“The measures are preventive in nature and aim to secure and protect the airspace,” the Polish defense writes on X.

More than 6,000 Polish soldiers and border guards will celebrate Christmas Eve along the border with Belarus. This was stated by Prime Minister Donald Tusk on Tuesday in connection with a visit to one of five new observation towers that have recently been built along the border, Euronews reports.

– We will think warmly of them, and we will all remember that it is thanks to them that everyone else can spend Christmas safely in their homes.

The visit was made to the observation tower in Ozierany together with the Minister of the Interior Marcin Kierwiński, where a new cluster of drone defenses is being installed.

– It is a special tower because the first cluster of the artillery system that will defend the Polish border is being installed on this tower, says Kierwiński.
