Russia wants to have a power plant on the moon by 2036 and supply its space program and a planned international space station with energy from the plant. This is what the state space agency Roscosmos writes on the messaging service Telegram.
Roscosmos has not explicitly said that it is a nuclear power plant, but partners in the program are Rosatom, the state nuclear energy company, and the Kurtjatov Institute, which is Russia's leading research center for nuclear energy.
