Kremlin: No trilateral talks planned

No trilateral talks between Russia, Ukraine and the US are planned, the Kremlin announced according to the Kyiv Independent.

– At the moment, no one has seriously discussed this initiative, and as far as I know, no such preparations are underway, says Putin's foreign policy adviser Yuri Ushakov.

Yesterday, Volodymyr Zelensky said that the US had proposed talks between the national security advisers of the three countries.

Ukraine would only agree to this if it could lead to prisoner exchanges or pave the way for talks at the leadership level, the Ukrainian president said according to Reuters.

Putin accepts Macron's overtures – is willing to talk

Vladimir Putin is willing to talk with French President Emmanuel Macron about a solution to the war in Ukraine. This is what Putin's spokesman Dmitry Peskov told state-run Russian media.

– Putin has said he is ready to start a dialogue with Macron.

After Thursday's EU summit, Macron said he thinks Europe should start talking to Putin again.

– I think it is in the interest of both Europe and Ukraine, said the French president.

No progress after three days of negotiations in the US

On Sunday, Russian and Ukrainian negotiators are holding talks with the US in Miami for the third day in a row, writes AFP. So far, no progress has been reported.

The Kremlin has sent envoy Kirill Dmitriev. His mission is to “obtain information” on the US and European proposed changes to the peace plan and report to Putin.

Putin’s foreign policy adviser Yuri Ushakov seems to already have his opinion clear, writes Reuters.

– I am sure that the proposals that the Europeans and Ukrainians have made definitely do not improve the document or improve the chances of lasting peace, he says.

Both Russian and Ukrainian representatives have described the talks as constructive. No trilateral talks are planned. According to Zelenskyj, the US has proposed it, but the Kremlin closed the door.
