Representatives of Denmark, Greenland and the US have held a meeting, reports Danmarks Radio.

The meeting is confirmed by the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

"The Ministry of Foreign Affairs can confirm that there has been a meeting today between high-ranking officials from Denmark, Greenland and the US to discuss how we can address American concerns regarding security in the Arctic while respecting the kingdom's red lines," it said in a written statement.

The meeting comes after Donald Trump last week backed down from his threat to take over Greenland by force.

US, Denmark and Greenland in First Meeting on the Arctic: “Want to Avoid Media Circus”

Denmark, the US and Greenland have today settled down for a first meeting on the Danish territory since the Greenland crisis calmed down.

When the foreign ministers of Greenland and Denmark visited Washington at the beginning of the year, they agreed to form a working group, which aims to “manage differences of opinion,” writes AP.

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio says that the meetings will be a recurring process.

– We will try to do it in a way that does not mean that there will be a media circus every time the talks take place, he says.

According to the Danish Foreign Ministry, Wednesday's talks were about how US security interests in the Arctic can be met without crossing any "red lines" - Greenland's sovereignty.
