China wants to further strengthen cooperation with Russia

Chinese Defense Minister Dong Jun held talks with his Russian counterpart Andrei Belousov on Tuesday. China expressed that the country wants to “strengthen strategic coordination” with Russia, according to Chinese state media.

Together, the countries will “contribute positive energy to global security and stability,” according to Dong.

Neither the Chinese media nor the Russian Defense Ministry’s statement about the meeting mentions the war in Ukraine, writes AFP.

Russia and China have long been allies, and the West believes that the Kremlin receives economic and military support from China.

China has been hacking mobile phones belonging to senior officials at Downing Street for several years, The Telegraph reveals. Both political and private messages may have been leaked to high-ranking figures in the British government.

The hackers are said to have targeted phones belonging to some of the closest associates of Boris Johnson, Liz Truss and Rishi Sunak between 2021 and 2024. Around half a million undocumented migrants will be allowed to stay in Spain, Migration Minister Elma Saiz told the RTVE television channel.

The aim is to "recognize and provide dignity and guarantees" to people who already live and work in Spain. A decree will secure the fundamental rights of these people.

The decree will cover people who have lived in Spain for at least five months and who have applied for asylum before the end of the year.

For the Spanish left-wing government, this is yet another departure from the more restrictive migration policy pursued in other parts of Europe, writes AFP. The conservative opposition party Partido Popular has swung and is against the initiative.
