Trump's USA ICE operations

Report: Pretti was injured by federal police the week before he was killed

Nurse Alex Pretti was already on the federal police register when he was shot dead in Minneapolis in connection with protests against ICE, according to CNN information.

The week before the fatal shooting, Pretti was injured while demonstrating against federal police who were trying to make an arrest, the channel writes. Sources say he was pushed so hard that he broke a rib. The Department of Homeland Security, DHS, says it has no information about the incident.

At the beginning of the year, DHS reportedly asked agents temporarily stationed in Minnesota to collect information on people protesting. This includes photos and license plate numbers.

Pretti was reportedly taken into custody for a short time before being released at the scene.

Trump promises to scale back: "There will be a change"

Donald Trump promises to scale back the situation in Minnesota, where federal police and immigration agency ICE agents have been met with strong demonstrations after they shot and killed two people.

- We're going to scale back a little, he tells Fox News, but adds that it's not about a withdrawal but "a change".

Border Patrol chief Gregory Bovino, who reportedly received internal criticism after Alex Pretti was shot dead over the weekend, has left the state. "Border Patrolman" Tom Homan will take over ICE operations.

Trump, who spoke to farmers in Iowa on Tuesday, emphasizes that it's nothing strange to replace a chief or a management team.

“You shake up your team if they can’t take care of the crops fast enough,” he says.

The president also describes Bovino as “out there,” which roughly means eccentric or odd.

“In some cases, that’s good. In this case, maybe it wasn’t so good,” he says.
