Expert: Trump could get Canada to place record order
Donald Trump's increasingly harsh rhetoric against Canada could play into Saab's hands. Canadian defense expert Rob Huebert tells Afv.
He believes it is "entirely conceivable" that the country will buy around 70 Gripen from Saab instead of fulfilling a previous order for 88 American F-35 planes. That would correspond to a contract value of 90 billion kronor and be Saab's largest order ever, the newspaper writes.
- There is enormous pressure on the government not to appear to be giving in to American interests. At the same time, Saab is acting very politically astutely in its bid, he says.
Raid on Deutsche - investigated for suspected money laundering
German police carried out raids on Deutsche Bank in Frankfurt and Berlin on Wednesday morning as part of an investigation into money laundering, several media outlets report.
According to the German Spiegel, which was the first to report the information, around 30 plainclothes investigators entered the bank's headquarters in central Frankfurt shortly after 10 a.m.
According to the newspaper, the investigation is linked to suspected crimes in the bank's dealings with companies linked to the Russian billionaire and businessman Roman Abramovich, who has been on the EU's sanctions list since 2022.
The bank confirms that prosecutors in Frankfurt are conducting an investigation at Deutsche Bank's offices and that it is cooperating fully with the relevant authorities.
- We cannot comment further on the matter, the bank says in a comment.
The investigation comes the day before the major bank releases its financial statements for 2025. The share is down 3 percent on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
