Opposition leader: Denmark on the verge of splitting up NATO
Pele Broberg, leader of the populist opposition party Naleraq, has once again expressed frustration over Denmark's handling of Trump's remarks about Greenland. In an interview with Danish TV2, he claims that Greenland "does not want to be part of Denmark".
- For some reason, Denmark is on the verge of splitting up the NATO alliance to keep Greenland, he says.
Yesterday, Greenland's Foreign Minister Vivian Motzfeldt suggested that it would be good if Greenland could hold talks with the US on its own. Broberg agrees, saying that the issue "has nothing to do with Denmark".
Trump: "Can take Greenland the hard way"
The US will "do something in Greenland, whether they like it or not". Donald Trump said this on Friday during a meeting with reporters, several media outlets report.
- If we don't do it, Russia or China will take over Greenland. And we will not have Russia or China as our neighbor, Trump said.
He went on to say that he is willing to make a deal and do it “the easy way”.
– But if we can’t do it the easy way, we will do it the hard way, Trump said.
