US Could Rule Venezuela for Years: “Will Take Oil”

The US may have to rule Venezuela for several years, Donald Trump expects. He says this in an interview with the New York Times, without giving any exact timeframe.

– Time will tell, he says.

He also emphasizes that the interim president, former vice president Delcy Rodríguez, is currently doing a satisfactory job.

Trump’s plans for Venezuela revolve a lot around oil – which is said to play a central role in the “reconstruction” of the country.

– We will use oil, and we will take oil. We will lower oil prices and we will give money to Venezuela, which they desperately need, he says.

According to sources to the Wall Street Journal, Donald Trump believes that this could lower the price of oil to $50 per barrel.

Sources: US operation against Maduro hung by a thread

The US raid to capture Nicolás Maduro encountered more and more serious problems than previously known, reports the New York Times.

As the US helicopters approached Maduro’s compound, they came under fire. The operation’s flight commander, who had planned the mission and was flying one of the helicopters, was hit three times in the leg, sources say.

The helicopter was also hit by gunfire and struggled to stay aloft and land the elite Delta Force soldiers at their target. The entire operation was then hanging by a thread.

“If a single part in this well-oiled machine had failed, the entire mission would have been jeopardized,” said General Dan Caine a few hours after the operation.
