Minnesota investigators have been barred from participating in the investigation where an employee of the country's immigration unit ICE shot and killed a woman in a car.

This is stated by Drew Evans, head of the state's investigative agency.

According to Evans, the state's investigative agency BCA had agreed on Wednesday to handle the investigation together with the federal police FBI and that the two had begun coordinating the work.

However, a few hours later, a new message came.

“The investigation would now be led solely by the FBI and the BCA would no longer have access to case materials, crime scene evidence or the opportunity to conduct interviews, which are necessary to complete a full and independent investigation,” Evans said in a statement, adding:

“As a result, the BCA has reluctantly decided to withdraw from the investigation.”

The high-profile incident took place during one of the immigration authorities’ operations against irregular migrants in the state of Minnesota.

The woman allegedly tried to run over the ICE representative, according to the Department of Homeland Security. But both Minnesota’s mayor and its governor, Democrat Tim Walz, have sharply criticized the intervention.
