An ICE agent shot and killed a 37-year-old woman in Minneapolis on Wednesday.
Thousands of people have gathered at the scene to light candles. Criticism and protests against the US immigration police are growing.
On Wednesday evening American time, a large crowd took to the street where the shooting took place to show their support for 37-year-old mother of three Renee Nicole Good.
The entire block was filled with people shouting slogans against the immigration police ICE with the message to leave the city. The shooting took place not far from where George Floyd was killed by police in 2020, which triggered a large-scale wave of protests in the United States.
So far, the new protests have been peaceful, but there is great concern about escalation. Demonstrations are planned in several American cities on Thursday.

According to Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, the state's National Guard is ready in case the protests escalate. CNN reports that public schools in Minneapolis are closed for the rest of the week due to the incident.
There are also protests elsewhere in the United States, where people hold up signs with the message "ICE, get out of our neighborhoods".
The fatal shooting was filmed by several people. The videos show how two ICE agents try to get a woman to get out of her car.
"Go to hell"
The woman reverses the car, then drives forward and turns. A third agent draws his weapon and fires a shot and continues to shoot as the car drives past him. The car then crashes into several parked vehicles. A witness tells CNN that the woman was not aggressive.
Authorities disagree on who is responsible.
President Donald Trump and Kristi Noem, Secretary of Homeland Security, have defended the shooting, saying the agent acted in self-defense.
Vice President JD Vance writes on X that the woman's death is a tragedy, but that it must also be recognized that it is a tragedy that "she caused herself."
Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey is harsh in his criticism of ICE after the shooting. At a press conference, he calls the argument about self-defense "bullshit."
