Trump threatened eight EU countries with tariffs.
Now the EU is planning its response – retaliatory tariffs of SEK 1,000,000,000,000.
The EU is also calling for an extraordinary summit on Greenland.
The EU is considering imposing tariffs of 93 billion euros, equivalent to SEK 997 billion, against the US after Trump's threat of tariffs on several European countries that do not support his plans to take over Greenland.
This is according to sources for the Financial Times.
An EU diplomatic source tells Reuters that the retaliatory tariffs will come into effect on February 6.
The EU is also considering restricting American companies in the European market, according to the sources.
The measures are planned to give European leaders a better negotiating position during meetings with Trump at the World Economic Forum in Davos, which begins on Monday.
Extraordinary summit
At the same time, Antonio Costa, President of the European Council, announced that he will call the EU countries to an extraordinary summit on Greenland,
He wrote on X on Sunday evening.
The discussions will, among other things, deal with support for Denmark and Greenland, preparedness and a "joint assessment" of Trump's tariff threat.
According to sources to Politico, the meeting will be held on Thursday. It will be a physical meeting where the heads of government of the 27 member states must be on site in Brussels.
Aftonbladet is looking for Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson.
