The coalition party is heading for election victory - Marin's SDP third
The election in Finland is a real shocker. According to Yle's forecast, the liberal-conservative Samlingsparty will be the largest in the election with an estimated support of 20.9 percent. The right-wing populist Sannfinländarna is at 20.6 percent and Sanna Marin's Social Democrats 19.5 percent.
- I look at the forecast with a smile on my face, says Sannfinländar's Riikka Purra in Yle's broadcast.
The fourth largest party is the Center, which looks set to get 11.2 percent, which would be a loss of 2.6 percentage points. According to the forecast, the Greens get 7.3 percent, which would be a drop of over 4 percentage points.
Yle's forecast is generally considered to reflect the election result well.
According to experts, the Riksdag election was a so-called "prime ministerial election". The party that receives the most votes is traditionally tasked with forming a government. '

The election in Finland Heavy for C: Hard blow if the forecast becomes reality
The Greens and the Center look set to be losers in the Finnish election, reports Svenska Yle. The ruling party Centern looks set to get 12 percent, which would be a loss of almost two percentage points.
- The mood is not at its best. The situation looks tight for me personally and things are going badly for the party. If the forecast becomes reality, it will be a heavy blow, says Minister of Economic Affairs Mika Lintilä (C).
According to the first forecast, the Green Party is backing down by almost 4 percent. Party leader Maria Ohisalo believes that the campaign was too much about left-right politics.
Political scientist: Likely with a bourgeois government
It is very likely that the liberal-conservative Gathering Party will form a government with the right-wing populist True Finns. That's what political scientist Åsa von Schoultz says in Svenska Yle's election broadcast.
- It is time for a change of government. It feels natural that the Collection Party looks to the True Finns who make a good choice, she says.
According to Yle's election forecast, the parties became the two largest with just over 20 percent of the vote. However, von Schoultz does not rule out a government with the Samlingspartiet and the Social Democrats, but states that the parties were far apart in the election campaign.
