Sturgeon's husband arrested - the party's finances are being investigated
Peter Murrell, the recently resigned party secretary of Scotland's ruling SNP party, has been arrested. This is reported by the British media.
The 58-year-old is the husband of former First Minister Nicola Sturgeon, who was last week replaced in the post by Humza Yousaf.
The investigation concerns sums equivalent to millions of kroner that were donated to the SNP for a campaign for Scottish independence, and which were then allegedly used for daily expenses, writes The Guardian.
Murrell and the party's communications director resigned last month following a scandal involving media lies about the party's membership agreement.
Newly elected party secretary Michael Russell described the party as a "complete mess" in an interview with the Financial Times last month.

Yousaf after SNP arrest: Disturbing news
Scotland's First Minister Humza Yousaf has commented on the arrest of the SNP's former party secretary Peter Russell, husband of Yousaf's representative Nicola Sturgeon.
Yousaf calls the news "challenging and troubling," according to Reuters.
- We will wait and see what emerges from the ongoing police investigation, he says.
Russell was arrested today as part of an investigation into the party's funding. Millions of kroner in campaign contributions are suspected of having gone to the party's daily expenses.
