"The drone attack the most massive since the invasion"
Tonight's Russian drone attack on Ukraine's capital Kyiv is the "most massive" since the invasion began in February 2022, according to military chief Serhiji Popko. That's what AP writes.
54 drones were involved in the attack, which is described as the highest recorded number of drones in a single attack since the outbreak of war. Ukraine's air force says 52 of the drones were shot down.
A 41-year-old man was killed and a 35-year-old woman was injured when debris from downed drones fell in connection with the attack. The woman is being treated in hospital for her injuries, says Kyiv Mayor Vitaly Klitschko.

Ukraine's army in dire need of new recruits
The Ukrainian military is in great need of personnel additions ahead of the major offensive that is expected, The Telegraph reports. The army has been decimated significantly in the past year's fighting, and so a broad campaign has now been launched to fill the gaps.
One strategy used to strengthen is that soldiers who have been injured in battle are now called up again. The idea has previously been that injured people should not enter combat again, but now they are forced to think again.

Ex-advisor: Quick victory for Ukraine reduces risk of "black swans"
If Ukraine's army is equipped with more lethal military equipment, the country could be on the way to "strategic successes on the battlefield," Dan Rice, a former adviser to Ukrainian commander-in-chief Valery Zaluzhny, told Radio Free Europe.
He also says that the sooner Ukraine defeats Russia, the more the risks of so-called black swans, unpredictable events with serious consequences, occurring. According to Rice, a possible black swan could be a meltdown at the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant, which Russian forces have taken control of.
Rice believes that the Ukrainian counter-offensive will be a fact within a couple of months, and that it will lead to success for the Ukrainian army.
