Graham in stormy weather after cut video: "Propaganda"
American Senator Lindsey Graham has been caught in the crossfire since two of his quotes during a visit to Kyiv last week were spread. But according to Reuters, the quotes have been cut together.
In the clipped footage, he first says "and the Russians are dying" followed by "it's the best money we've ever spent", but according to Ukraine, the quotes don't belong together. It was during a conversation with Volodymyr Zelenskyi that the president said that Ukraine will "become free".
Graham: "And the Russians die".
Zelenskyy: “Yes, but they came to our territory. We are not fighting on their territory”.
Russia
wants to make it appear that Graham's statement about US aid is
directly related to his comments about Russians dying in the war. But according to Reuters, and Ukraine, the statements came during two completely different parts of the conversation.
"As usual, the Russian propaganda machine is working hard," writes Graham in an email to Reuters about the high-profile clip.
In the first clip released by Ukraine, it was not clear that the quotes came on two different occasions Reuters ·

US Senator Graham wanted by Russia
Russia's Ministry of the Interior is calling for American Senator Lindsey Graham, writes the Russian news agency Tass.
Graham visited Kyiv last week and met with President Volodymyr Zelenskyi. The senator said, among other things, that US military support to the country was "the most well-invested money ever".
The statement was criticized by Russia, which accuses him of making Russophobic statements as the country links his statement with a quote about "Russians dying". But according to Ukraine and Reuters, who have seen the interview in its entirety, there are two different parts of the interview that have been cut together.
