Ghanaian clothing retailers to Kuhnke: Demand new rules
Representatives from the world's largest market for recycled clothes, Kantamanto in Ghana, want to see new European laws to deal with the environmental disaster that the West's dumped clothes mean, writes The Guardian.
They have met, among others, the environmentalist and MEP Alice Bah Kuhnke to present their demands for new rules to ensure that the fast fashion industry takes responsibility. Among other things, they want the producers to pay at least 0.5 cents for each garment sent there and that there should be a guarantee that a reasonable proportion goes to the countries that receive the clothes.
Every day, 100 tons of clothes from Western countries are dumped in Accra.

Wave of dengue fever in Peru described as climate warning
The worst outbreak of dengue fever in years has hit Peru, the Washington Post reports. More than 110,000 cases have been registered so far this year.
The outbreak can be seen as a warning to countries in tropical regions, according to the paper. As hot and humid weather becomes more common with climate change, the conditions for the spread of insect-borne diseases will also improve.
The incidence of dengue fever has increased dramatically in recent decades. According to WHO statistics, the number of cases increased from around 500,000 in 2000 to 5.2 million in 2019.

Conspiracy theory with Joe Rogan spreads despite Tiktok's new rules about the climate
A clip of podcaster Joe Rogan talking about a climate-denying conspiracy theory has gone viral on Tiktok, despite the platform's new guidelines banning disinformation about the climate. This is noted in a new report from the left-leaning media reviewer Media Matters of America.
The report has identified seven clips that sell the so-called "Adam and Eve" theory on Tiktok. It is based on the fact that the direction of the Earth's magnetic field has been reversed several times throughout history and claims (without evidence) that this has caused major climate changes. The biblical story of Noah's ark is presented as an example.
In the Joe Rogan clip, the theory is described as "science", despite the fact that there is extensive evidence that today's climate change is caused by fossil emissions.
