The new AI race: Can smaller models speak more humanly?
Would AI chatbots like Chat GPT and Bard sound more human in their language if they knew fewer words? It is from that question that the BabyLM Challenge project is based, writes the New York Times.
A young group of academics has asked research teams to create working language models based on less information than one ten-thousandth of the largest models. The idea is that they will become smaller - but also more accessible.
- We challenge people to think small and focus more on building efficient systems that more people can use, says Johns Hopkins researcher Aaron Mueller, who is one of the organizers.

Rumor: New Pixel Watch gets Qualcomm chip
