The EU wants to give 2,000 billion in Russian assets to Ukraine
The EU has blocked more than SEK 2,000 billion in assets for Russia's central bank since the invasion of Ukraine. That's what Bloomberg writes.
- The EU is determined that Russia will have to pay for the damage caused by the war to Ukraine, says EU Commissioner Christian Wigand. Possibilities are now being investigated to be able to send the assets to Ukraine.
Even private assets worth more than SEK 250 billion have been frozen in sanctions since the invasion. However, it has been more difficult to freeze the assets of Russian billionaires.

Footage is said to show Ukraine attacking spy ships
A Russian reconnaissance ship appears to have come under attack from Ukraine using naval drones. This is reported by CNN based on a clip that the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense published on Twitter and an earlier statement from the Russian side.
The Russian Defense Ministry said on Wednesday that Ukraine tried to attack the Ivan Khurs ship with three unmanned boats, but that Russia managed to destroy all three. The Kremlin has also published a clip that appears to show how a boat is destroyed by fire.
CNN has analyzed the Ukrainian clip, which was filmed from a camera on one of the boats, and writes that a boat appears to have hit the Russian vessel. The clip shows how one of the boats is fired upon but still comes very close to the ship, before it suddenly breaks.
According to CNN's analysis, it is likely that it is the Ivan Khurs that is seen in the image, but it is not possible to say for sure if the ship was hit and if so if it was damaged.

Mocking posts don't bother DeSantis: "Shows strength"
Joe
Biden and Donald Trump took the opportunity to mock Ron DeSantis after
the technical problems that arose on Twitter when the Florida governor
was going to announce his presidential candidacy last night via the
"Spaces" function.
Trump
used his own platform "Truth Social" to call the launch a disaster, and
Biden tweeted a link to his donation page with the text: "This link is
working."
However, DeSanti's staff does not want to call it a fiasco, writes NBC. People
close to the governor say, on the contrary, that he "overturned the
internet", and that the breakdown was a consequence of "the strength of
his candidacy".

Source: The parties are approaching agreement on the US debt ceiling
US
President Joe Biden and the Republican Speaker of the House of
Representatives Kevin McCarthy are approaching an agreement on the debt
ceiling. This is reported by Reuters with reference to a source with insight into the ongoing negotiations.
According
to the source, they have started hammering out a "slim agreement" with
some key figures that decision-makers should be able to quickly see
through.
The
country's Finance Minister Janet Yellen has warned on several occasions
that the money risks running out as early as June 1 if a solution is
not found before then.
