Sources: Ukraine sent 150 drones to rebels - 'have a common enemy'
The Syrian jihadist group Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) received 150 drones from Ukrainian intelligence operatives, weeks before the rebels advanced and toppled Bashar al-Assad. This is stated by sources for the Washington Post. Around 20 drone operators are said to have been sent to Syria.
The newspaper's columnist David Ignatius writes that Ukraine's support for the resistance in Syria has always been a poorly hidden secret.
"Faced with a Russian offensive within its own country, Ukrainian intelligence has sought other fronts where it can inflict damage on Russia and undermine its allies."
According to the information, Ukrainian support did not play a decisive role in bringing down al-Assad.
A rebel Ekot has spoken to says that Ukrainian specialists trained the Syrians in how to operate drones.
- We have a common enemy.

China's foreign minister "concerned" about Syria
Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi is "deeply concerned" about the situation in Syria. He stated this during a meeting in Beijing with his Egyptian counterpart, according to AFP.
China had a good relationship with Syria's ousted dictator Bashar al-Assad, and now warns that "terrorists and extremists can take advantage of the chaos."
However, Wang Yi also clarifies that the future of the Middle East is primarily a matter for the countries of the Middle East, while the international community should focus on "reflecting and learning" from the situation.

Israel plans to occupy the buffer zone throughout the winter
Israel's military will likely remain in the buffer zone on the border between Israel and Syria for months, reports AFP.
According to the news agency, Defense Minister Israel Katz has ordered the military to "prepare to stay" at least through the winter.
Israel took over the demilitarized zone on Sunday in connection with the overthrow of Bashar al-Assad in Syria. According to Israel, the area needs to be controlled for security reasons. In a statement, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's staff emphasizes that the occupation is temporary.
The occupation violates the peace agreement from 1974, and has been severely criticized by, among others, the UN.
