Trump fires first female military chief

The day after Donald Trump took office, the US's first female military chief is fired, according to information to Reuters.

Admiral Linda Lee Fagan has reportedly been fired from her post as commander of the Coast Guard because she allegedly prioritized diversity issues over border security, writes Fox News.

The dismissal will probably be the first of many, writes the Washington Post, which reminds us that Trump has promised to purge what he calls "woke" or "politically correct" top military personnel. His nominated Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth has promised to fire everyone who has worked for diversity, equality and inclusion in the military.

Republicans rage against bishop: "Should be deported"

Republican politicians and other Trump supporters are raging on social media against Bishop Mariann Edgar Budde. In her inaugural sermon in Washington on Tuesday, she appealed to the newly elected president to show mercy to LGBTQ people and migrants, according to Reuters.

“Whoever gives this sermon should be added to the deportation list,” writes Republican Congressman Mike Collins on X.

Influencer Sara Rose writes that she should be banned from ever holding a church service again and calls her “disgusting,” a word that recurs in many of the posts.

Tom Basile, a program host and columnist in right-wing news media, writes that the bishop “perverts scripture to make a left-wing political stance” and Elon Musk claims that she has been infected with the “woke virus.”

Four injured in knife attack in Tel Aviv

Four people were injured when they were attacked by a man with a knife in Tel Aviv, Israel, on Tuesday evening, AFP reports. The perpetrator was reportedly shot dead by a civilian, according to Haaretz.

Hamas hailed the attack as a “heroic operation” without claiming responsibility.

The attacker was a Moroccan citizen with residency in the United States, security sources told Haaretz and the Times of Israel. He reportedly entered the country three days ago and was allowed through security after questioning.
