US climate policy
Swedish green transition may benefit from Trump's policy

Donald Trump's new environmental policy may mean a chance for Sweden to strengthen its position in the green transition. Maha Bouzeid, regional director of the organization Business Sweden, believes so.

In an interview with Dagens Nyheter, she talks about, among other things, the US president's desire to dismantle Joe Biden's large climate package IRA. Even if American companies investing in green technology find it more difficult, Sweden will remain attractive, she reasons.

- Our companies are at the forefront of innovation and green technology, something that will continue to be in demand internationally.

The climate threat  California wildfires
Climate change important factor behind the fires

Climate change increased the heat, drought and wind that made the recent fires in California so catastrophic. This is shown by a new scientific study from World Weather Attribution, reports AP.

Many factors are behind the fires and the effect of climate change is limited after all. The researchers behind the study estimate that climate change increased the conditions for the fires by 35 percent, and their intensity by six percent.

The study compares the development of rain, humidity and wind speed with a "pretend world" without the 1.3 degrees of warming caused by humans during the industrial era, writes Coast FM.

Middle East Crisis  Ceasefire
UN chief demands Israel reverse decision on Unrwa

UN chief António Guterres is demanding that Israel reverse its decision to expel the UN relief agency Unrwa from Jerusalem and sever all contact with it, AFP reports.

“I regret the decision and call on the Israeli government to reverse it,” he wrote in a letter, stressing that the agency is “irreplaceable.”

Unrwa plays a central role in providing food aid, healthcare and schools to Palestinians in the occupied territories.

Guterres also rejects Israel’s sovereignty over East Jerusalem, where the agency’s offices are located. East Jerusalem is considered by the international community to be part of the Palestinian West Bank under illegal Israeli occupation.
