Middle East Crisis Israel-Hezbollah

Lebanese President Demands World Response

Lebanese President Joseph Aoun is furious at the Israeli attacks that were targeted at the country on Sunday, Haaretz reports. He demands that the world react and act "to stop the attacks on Lebanon and its people".

Health authorities in the country state that at least five people were killed and 28 injured when Israel attacked the capital Beirut.

The order reportedly came from Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and the IDF describes it as "a targeted attack on a Hezbollah terrorist".

Israeli media reports that military chief Haytham Ali Tabatabai was killed in the attack.

Hezbollah military chief reportedly killed in the attack

Israel has carried out a new attack on the Lebanese capital Beirut. According to Israeli media, Haytham Ali Tabatabai, who is Hezbollah's de facto military chief, was killed in the attack.

The airstrikes took place in Beirut's southern suburbs. Witnesses told Reuters that residents ran out of their homes fearing more attacks. Dozens of people were injured and taken to hospitals in the area.

It is the first Israeli attack in Beirut in months. Axios reporter Barak Ravid writes on X that the US was not aware of the attack.
