The US and Ukraine have agreed on a new peace proposal, writes the Financial Times.
The proposal contains 19 points.
– Very few points remain from the original proposal, Ukrainian Deputy Foreign Minister Serhiy Kyslytsya tells the newspaper.
The US and Ukraine have developed a draft of a new peace agreement.
Deputy Foreign Minister Serhiy Kyslytsya, who himself participated in the peace talks in Switzerland, tells the Financial Times that it is a 19-point plan.
The most sensitive issues – such as territorial concessions and Ukraine’s relationship with NATO – will be negotiated directly by Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelenskyj with US President Donald Trump.
The plan is a scaled-down version of the 28-point plan that the US and Russia presented last week – which was criticized for catering to Russian interests.
“Almost everything we proposed was included”
Serhiy Kyslytsya describes the meeting in Geneva, Switzerland, as “intensive” and “productive” that led to a revised version that both sides felt satisfied with.
The minister says the US delegation has been keen to hear Ukraine’s views and proposals.
“Almost everything we proposed was included,” he says.
Now both delegations will bring a draft to their respective presidents. The next step is for the Trump administration to contact Moscow for further talks.
