Air traffic continues to be difficult in large parts of western Europe. Hundreds of departures are canceled or delayed from Schiphol on Tuesday as well.

The snow has hit major airports such as Orly, Charles de Gaulle and Schiphol in Amsterdam.

Only a limited number of flights were able to take off from Schiphol on Monday, and Paris was asked to reduce traffic by 15 percent due to the severe weather. In Charente-Maritime in western France, among other places, around 30 centimeters of snow fell.

The situation has eased somewhat in France, but it is now clear that many departures are canceled or delayed at European airports on Tuesday as well, especially from Schiphol. The airline KLM writes on its website that it has canceled 300 flights to and from the major airport.

“This number may increase during the day. We are doing everything we can to minimize the impact on travelers. Safety continues to be our top priority, both in the air and on the ground.”

Some of those affected by the weather include the Swedish junior national ice hockey team, which won the World Championship final against the Czech Republic. They were supposed to travel via Amsterdam on Wednesday, but their return flight has been canceled. It is currently unclear when they will be able to fly to Sweden.
