France: Response to US “threat” being prepared

France is preparing a plan with other European countries for retaliation against all forms of “threat” from the US, according to the country’s Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot.
This applies in particular to the US’s ambition to acquire Greenland.
The French Foreign Ministry has begun work “to prepare retaliation, to respond, and not to respond alone,” Barrot said in an interview with France Inter.
The goal is to be convincing and effective, he said.
According to Barrot, the issue will be discussed on Wednesday with the foreign ministers of Germany and Poland. Together, the three countries form “a trio with the capacity to influence Europe,” Barrot said.
US President Donald Trump has said that the US “needs” Greenland for security reasons. Both Greenland and Denmark have rejected the claims.
