Norwegian Princess Märtha Louise will not give up her princess title, even though opinion polls show that a large majority of Norwegians want it.

– It is a part of me as a person and my family, she says in an interview in the Danish TV2 program “Insider” quoted by VG.

According to a survey by Norwegian TV2, eight out of ten Norwegians believe that the king should strip his daughter of the title.

However, the princess says that she mainly meets Norwegians who are friendly to her and do not recognize her opinions.

– Of course there are people who disagree with us, but why should I focus on them? she says.

Her husband Durek Verrett supports Märtha Louise, but emphasizes that the title means nothing to him.

“I didn’t marry her because of her title. It wouldn’t have made any difference to me,” he tells the channel.

In 2019, it was announced that Princess Märtha Louise would no longer use the title of princess in commercial contexts, an agreement that she was later accused of repeatedly violating.
