Minister's demands for Minnesota – in the middle of the ICE crisis
Published 18.07
US Attorney General Pam Bondi is demanding in a letter that the immigration police ICE be given more room to maneuver in Minnesota – shortly after a person was shot dead during an ICE intervention.
She is again urging Minnesota's Democratic Governor Tim Walz to repeal the sanctuary policies that are applied in several of the state's cities and that limit local police cooperation with federal authorities in the hunt for undocumented migrants.
She is also repeating the Trump administration's demand for access to documents from local health care and food assistance programs, with the express purpose of investigating fraud. Minnesota fears that they will be used to track migrants.
Bondi is also demanding access to the state's voter rolls to review how voter registration is being handled, also a previous demand.
