USA vs Venezuela Reactions

Vice President: Venezuela's leader is Maduro

Venezuelan Vice President Delcy Rodríguez is demanding that the United States immediately release President Nicolás Maduro and his wife Cilia Flores, several media outlets report.

Rodríguez has been sworn in as president after Maduro was arrested and taken to New York by US military forces, but she does not seem to see herself as his successor.

- There is only one president in Venezuela and that is Maduro, she says during the televised speech.

There have been reports during the day that she has fled to Russia, but Reuters writes that Rodríguez gave her speech in the Venezuelan capital Caracas. Next to her during the speech was her brother, Speaker Jorge Rodríguez.

Right-wing profile: "Voted for peace - oh how wrong we were"

Congresswoman and former Maga profile Marjorie Taylor Greene rages against Donald Trump's attacks on Venezuela and the capture of President Nicolás Maduro.

“Americans’ disgust with our own government’s never-ending military aggression and support for foreign wars is justified, because we are being forced to pay for it,” she writes, continuing:

“This is what many in MAGA thought they were voting to end. Oh, how wrong we were,”

A large part of Trump’s voter base wants US involvement in foreign affairs to be minimal and for US tax dollars to be spent essentially only on domestic issues. That part of the voter base has previously been represented by, among others, outgoing Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene, who has now broken with the president after his reluctance to make the Epstein investigation public.
