The US Department of Energy assesses that the coronavirus leaked from a Chinese lab, according to the Wall Street Journal.

Now the WHO is urging them to release the classified intelligence report.

"If any country has information about the origin of the pandemic, it is important that it is shared," said WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus.

The World Health Organization calls on all countries to reveal what they know about the origin of the corona pandemic, The Guardian reports.

The statement comes after several US authorities claimed that a leak from a Chinese lab is behind the virus, most recently the US Department of Energy - according to information to the Wall Street Journal.

In addition, FBI director Christopher Wray has told Fox news that his agency assesses that covid-19 comes from a "potential lab incident in Wuhan".

That prompted the WHO to react. And now they want the US to put the cards on the table.

The information must reach the scientific community, WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said on Friday.

"WHO continues to call on China to be transparent in sharing data and to conduct the necessary investigations and share the results," he said.

He emphasizes that it is not about pointing fingers, but that the information is crucial for us to be able to prevent, prepare for and react to future pandemics.

But he doesn't want to preempt the information.

"Until then, all hypotheses about the origin of the virus remain on the table."
