Unexpectedly weak US statistics: "The Fed's actions have an effect"
Several US macro figures came in weaker than expected on Tuesday afternoon, sending Wall Street into the red.
"Signs that the Fed's actions have an effect on the labor market and the economy," Max Matthiessen's investment manager Jon Arnell writes on Twitter.
Partly it is about the number of vacant jobs that fell more than expected in February, to 9.9 million, which is the lowest level since May 2021. Expectations were 10.4 million according to Trading Economics.
Partly it is about the order intake in US industry, which fell 0.7 percent in February, compared to the month before. Analysts had expected that order intake would have decreased by 0.5 percent.
