Russia tightens security ahead of Victory Day celebrations
Russia has tightened security in Moscow ahead of the Victory Day celebrations next week, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said, according to AFP.
- Naturally, everything will be tightened.
During the night of Thursday, Russia attacked several Ukrainian cities, including Kyiv and Odesa. Assessors consider it likely that the attacks will escalate further ahead of the symbolic holiday.
- There is a concern that Russia is increasing the intensity of the attacks, and Kyiv and Odessa are an example of that, says SR's Russia correspondent Maria Persson Löfgren to Ekot.
Victory Day is celebrated on May 9 to commemorate Germany's capitulation in World War II, known as the Great Patriotic War in Russia.

- The drone would fly to Red Square and circulate there until the fuel ran out, Yatsenko told the newspaper.
The businessman says he promised the equivalent of 5.6 million kroner to whoever lands a drone on the square in Moscow during the Victory Day celebration on May 9.
Russia has said it views the alleged incident as an attempt to assassinate President Vladimir Putin.

USA: "Not likely that Russia will resort to nuclear weapons"
It is not likely that Russia will use its nuclear weapons, according to US National Security Director Avril Haines.
- It is very unlikely, that is our current assessment, she said before a Senate committee on Thursday, according to Reuters.
In February, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that the country was freezing its participation in the New Start Agreement, the last active agreement between the United States and Russia that regulates the amount of strategic nuclear weapons.
