Met the followers: "The beginning of my recovery"
It was a relieved Leila de Lima who met her demonstrating supporters after the Philippine politician was acquitted of drug-trafficking charges, AP writes.
As she was led out of the courtroom, she called it a "brilliant day".
- This is the beginning of my recovery.
The court case was based on allegations by ex-President Rodrigo Duterte who claimed that de Lima received money from drug dealers. The case, which has been ongoing for six years, was dropped after key witnesses admitted they had lied.

Duterte critic acquitted after six years on drug charges
The Philippine ex-senator Leila de Lima has been acquitted in a case where she was accused of involvement in drug trafficking, several media write.
The 63-year-old has been a sharp critic of Rodrigo Duterte, who left the presidency this summer, and particularly his controversial and deadly "war on drugs".
According to CNN, the legal case is based on accusations from Duterte himself, who claimed that de Lima received money from drug dealers. The decision to acquit her was made after several key witnesses retracted their testimony and admitted that it was a matter of lies.
Leila de Lima has been imprisoned for six years, and has not yet been released. This is because there is a separate ongoing legal case against her.
